You’re a complete newbie to WordPress and you want to start your own self-hosted WordPress blog. You’ve chosen for one of our hosting packets and will run the installation automatically. You want to make money with your blog and thus start with a domain name that tells already what your blog will be about. After the installation, you want to add a beautiful template of your own choice. Finally, you write your first blog post and share it with the community.

Start with a domain

Take a look at the possibilities for a domain name and consider next before you buy a domain:

Domain Availability
– First of all, a domain is not obligated but gives you a lot of benefits to get a good listing in search results. Further, it also looks much more professional than the subdomain you get else for free is you don’t buy a subdomain.
– What do you want, free hosting with a paid domain, or a free .com, .info, .net, .org or .biz domain with paid hosting? Especially when one of the possibilities for paid hosting is in promotion, the first year, you won’t pay much more for this paid hosting with free domain than for a domain with free hosting. Remember that promotions are only for the first year. From the second year on you pay the full price. But if you buy business hosting the domain you get for free is meant FREE FOR LIFETIME!
– Take a look at the domain extensions. As already mentioned are only .com, .info, .net, .org or .biz domains FREE FOR LIFETIME if purchased together with business hosting.
– The enormous amount of domains already registered makes it difficult to invent always again new and original domain names, but grace to the arrival of new extensions this issue is solved. However, for many new extensions, you will also pay a higher price and they are never for free with paid hosting!
– With the domain search tool, you can search for domain names you like for your new blog if they are still free.
– Another possibility is the transfer of your existing domain name, but pay attention, you pay as much for a transfer as for a .com domain! But the transfer is also free with paid hosting.
– You may have only one free account with our hosting.

You may want to add some subdirectories or subdomains for your new blog if it isn’t yet done during the installation. If so, first of all, set-up a network before you do anything else. Go to wordpress.org to find out how to set up a network and follow the guidelines on the page.
In your multi-blog go to the left corner and hover till you get the Network Admin menu. Go to “sites” and set up the other sites for your network if you need any.

Plugins

Plugins

In your multi-blog go again to the left corner and hover till you get the Network Admin menu. Here click on “plugins”. Add any plugin you like but take into account that you best limit the number of plugins. Also be careful that the plugins you add are regularly updated. Most bloggers choose at least a SEO plugin to add the need keywords and adapt their blog posts to do well in the search engines. But maybe this all is yet done duting the installation by adding the recommended plugins.
