Joomla! is a content management system for publishing content on the World Wide Web and intranets as well as a Model-view-controller (MVC) Web Application Development framework. It is written in the PHP programming language and uses the MySQL database system to store information. Joomla is the result of a fork of Mambo. This is the Wikipedia definition of Joomla, not bad, but also maybe not so clear. In layman’s terms, CMS provides you or your clients with a very easy to use and manage system of adding, editing and creating content. That, is CMS in it’s most basic form. These things all extend the basic functionality of Joomla, allowing you to create anything from a small business website to a fully functioning corporate website with an integrated backend. The majority of these can be downloaded for free, offering your clients feature rich and interactive tools for their site bound to keep their customers engaged and coming back for more. Others do have a fee but are often times more reliable as well as more feature rich.
